Covered Ciborium #2271, the "St. Remy" in Gold Plated Sterling Silver
This item belongs to the Artistic Silver Maestro Collection from Molina which represents the summit of the silversmith’s art. The sacred vessels in this collection are hand crafted using the age-old techniques of the silversmith’s art that have flourished in Spain since the Middle Ages. Some of the articles are faithful replicas of historic vessels, while others are products of the artists’ extensive historical knowledge and creative imagination.
Dating from the Twelfth Century and housed in the Cathedral of Reims (France), the St. Remy Chalice is one of the most beautiful examples of Romanesque art. The St. Remy Ciborium was created by the artists of Molina as a companion piece to their replica of the Chalice. This Ciborium, like the Chalice, is partially hand made in Gold Plated 925 Sterling Silver. It features a hand chased outer cup and base with an open arch design that reveals the brightly polished inner cup and base. It is set with 32 semi-precious stones ( Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Green Venturines and Garnets) adorned with kiln fired cloisonné enamels. A more costly, completely hand made version of this Ciborium is also available. Please call for information and pricing.
The Ciborium is 9-1/2 inches high with a bowl that is 5-1/8 inches in diameter and holds 250 Hosts. In addition to the Chalice, there is also a matching Monstrance and Tabernacle. See Below, Related Products.
