Chalice & Paten #2270, the "St. Remy" in Gold Plated Sterling Silver
This item belongs to the Artistic Silver Maestro Collection from Molina which represents the summit of the silversmith’s art. The sacred vessels in this collection are hand crafted using the age-old techniques of the silversmith’s art that have flourished in Spain since the Middle Ages. Some of the articles are faithful replicas of historic vessels, while others are products of the artists’ extensive historical knowledge and creative imagination.
Dating from the Twelfth Century and housed in the Cathedral of Reims (France), the St. Remy Chalice is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful artifacts of the Romanesque Period. This faithful replica is made of 24K Gold Plated 925 Sterling Silver. It features a hand chased outer cup and base with an open arch design that reveals the brightly polished inner cup and base. It is set with 32 semi-precious stones ( Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Green Venturines and Garnets) adorned with kiln fired cloisonné enamels. The Chalice is 7-3/8 inches high with a cup that is 5-1/4 inches in diameter and holds 18 ounces. It has 7-inch matching Paten.
