Chalice & Paten #2440, Gold Plated Sterling Silver
This item belongs to the Artistic Silver Gothic Collection from Molina, which celebrates the style that marks the zenith of medieval art. The origins of the Gothic Style date to the middle of the twelfth century in Paris and the surrounding domains of the French Kings. Characterized by pointed arches, slender forms and stylized ornament, the gothic style represents a regal and otherworldly elegance.
This remarkable Chalice features sublime Gothic ornament lightly embossed on the cup and base with a richly engraved stem. The base features beautiful engraved medallions showing the Four Evangelists, the Crucifixion, and the Blessed Mother in silver plate with a contrastin gold background. The text on the cup is Calicem Salutaris Accipiam, Et Nomen Domini Invocabo; "I shall take the up of Salvation and call upon the Name of the Lord," Psalm 115:4. It is 8-3/4 inches high with a 4-7/8-inch diameter cup that holds 14 ounces. A 6-1/4-inch engraved Scale Paten with a ring base is provided.
