Chalice & Paten #AS-131, Silver Plated Brass

This Chalice belongs the Artistic Silver Baroque Collection, created by Molina to celebrate the Baroque Period of the 17th and early 18th centuries, when the tensions generated by the Reformation and Counter-Reformation contributed to the formation of distinctive of national identities. The Baroque style is characterized by a focus on the monumental, a sense of movement, and a taste for surprising and dramatic effects. The vessels in this collection exhibit bold forms, undulating shapes, and elaborate ornamentation.

This Chalice, made in Silver Plated Brass features a bold rinceau pattern on its base, node and outer cup as well as a kiln fired enamel carbouchon with the IHS Symbol. It is 8-1/4 inches high with a 4-inch cup that holds 12 ounces and is provided with a 6-1/4-inch scale Paten with a ring.
