Chalice & Paten #2133, the "Tassilo" Chalice in Silver and Gold Plated Brass
This item is part of the Artistic Silver Romanesque Collection created by Molina to celebrate the Romanesque Style, which flourished throughout Catholic Europe in the 11th and 12th centuries. The Romanesque Style was forged from diverse elements – Roman arches, Byzantine iconography, and Celtic ornamentation – into an innovative, unified and distinctive visual expression.
This Chalice is an accurate replica of the historic Tassilo Chalice and Paten, made in 777CE to commemorate the marriage of Duke Tassilo of Bavaria. The replica is smaller than than the original and the original inscription on the base has been replaced with scrollwork.
Made in Gold and Silver Plated Brass, the Chalice is 7 inches high with a 4-inch diameter cup that holds 14 ounces and it is provided with a 6-1/4-inch Diish Paten.
