Chalice Only #2740, Simplied Ardagh Chalice in Silver Plated Brass
This item belongs to the Artistic Silver Maestro Collection from Molina which represents the summit of the silversmith’s art. The sacred vessels in this collection are hand crafted using the age-old techniques of the silversmith’s art that have flourished in Spain since the Middle Ages. Some of the articles are faithful replicas of historic vessels, while others are products of the artists’ extensive historical knowledge and creative imagination.
This Chalice is a simplified version of the famous eighth-century Ardagh Chalice discovered in 1868 buried in the Irish countryside. That chalice, forged in solid silver with two handles and engraved with Celtic ornamentation, is undoubtedly one of the most significant artifacts of early Irish Christianity.
This simplified Molina version of the Ardagh Chalice is made in Silver Plated Brass with hand chiselled Celtic ornament and a Gold Plated Inner Cup. It is 7-3/4 inches high with a 5-1/8-inch diameter cup that holds 20 ounces. Please note that the manfacturer does not provide a Paten. Please call for information on ordering an appropriate Paten.
This Chalice can be ordered with an inner cup in Gold lined Sterling Silver. If interested, please call for information and the current price.
