Master Woodcarver

Woodcarving Fr. Miguel Pro. Fr. Miguel was a priest in the early 1900's in Mexico.

At the time, to be a priest in Mexico was a crime punishable by death. Fr. Miguel concealed his identity by dressing as a business man (thus the attire on the statue). When Fr. Miguel was apprehended he was made an example by being executed by a firing squad.

At the time of his execution he (Fr. Miguel) assumed the position of Jesus being crucified on the cross.

This wood carving is located at St. Procopius in Chicago, IL

Our in-house master woodcarver begins a new piece destined to be placed in Old St. Pats Church in downtown Chicago, IL.
